“Ashes of light” is already an argument: illumination that has burned down to residue. A dream slips through time; truth is spoken and silence answers; stars turn away from the hand that reaches. Futurepop’s dark sheen fits a world unmade “by what we knew”—knowledge as undoing rather than cure.

Yet the second half refuses pure extinction. Walked through flames, never died; still believed in “shattered skies.” Pain becomes inheritance—“all we own”—and the broken path is strangely called home. The ghosts still feel the heat in their veins.

I take the chorus as elegy for faith that outlives its proofs. Not triumph, not collapse alone, but the afterglow of belief when the heavens have closed their eyes.
