Lyrics
Cortisol first—sharp like a blade,
Breaking the will that progress made.
Heavy the breath, slower the beat,
Fire in muscle, doubt in feet.
I stay the course, I bear the flame,
Each aching pulse, a sacred game.
No soft arrival, no easy win,
Only the storm can call it in.
Through gritted will, the rhythm grows,
The silence cracks, the tension flows.
I feel the shift, the pain turns thin—
The gates unlock, and light floods in.
Endorphine comes, late but pure,
A secret prize for those who endure.
It rides the wave, it soars, it sings—
Born in the ash of suffering things.
Cortisol first—then if you stay,
Endorphine dances and leads the way.
One is trial, one is grace,
Both are written on my face.
The idea#
A physiology of will. Cortisol first—sharp, will-breaking, fire in the muscle and doubt in the feet—then, only if you stay, endorphine “late but pure,” born in the ash of suffering things. The lyric refuses soft arrival; the storm is the only door, and both trial and grace are “written on my face.”
Vocal trance’s euphoric drive maps neatly onto that chemical arc: tension, grit, the silence cracking, light flooding when the gates unlock. I hear it as a love letter to endurance that knows chemistry is not metaphor—pain thins, then something sings, and the song does not pretend the first half was pretty.
