Lyrics
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I feel you
Then I lose you
I breathe you
Then you fade
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I follow every shadow
That carries back your name
I listen to the silence
And hear you through the rain
You move beneath the water
You burn behind the stars
I reach into the distance
But never where you are
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I feel you
Then I lose you
I breathe you
Then you fade
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I am falling through your signal
I am drifting through your light
Every time I come closer
You disappear into the night
I am holding on to nothing
But the echo of your heart
You are near enough to haunt me
Still too far to fall apart
Here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I feel you
Then I lose you
I breathe you
Then you fade
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
Take the darkness
Take the fever
Take the memory
Take the need
Leave the silence
Leave the shimmer
Leave the ocean
Under me
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I feel you
Then I lose you
I breathe you
Then you fade
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I am falling through your signal
I am drifting through your light
Every time I come closer
You disappear into the night
Here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
I feel you
Then I lose you
I breathe you
Then you fade
You are here
Then gone
Here
Then gone
The idea#
The whole song is a stutter of presence: here / then gone. Feeling, losing, breathing, fading—the beloved becomes signal under water and fire behind stars, near enough to haunt, too far to fall apart with. “I am falling through your signal” makes love into reception, a bad connection that still ruins sleep.
Dark-euphoric nocturnal trance can live inside that flicker better than any ballad structure. The later permission—“some things only exist while they fade” is cousin to this—but here the mantra is simpler, almost childlike in its repetition, which makes the loss more absolute. What remains is rhythm of disappearance.
