Lyrics
𝑳𝒚𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒔 📝
Be, please, just a little weaker,
Or else I will soar too high.
Don’t make me stronger than I am—
I don’t want that… not I.
Don’t slip away like sand through fingers,
Don’t take your light and go.
I can’t keep chasing after you,
I’m growing old, you know.
Be, please, just a little human,
A little softer… please.
Let pain, unbidden, flicker once
Upon your stern, cold cheeks.
Let something trivial—something small—
Make you weep at least one time.
It’s not the weak who need this, no—
It’s us, the strong, who cry.
The idea#
A prayer against perfection. “Be, please, just a little weaker, / Or else I will soar too high.” Strength is treated as exile; the speaker begs the beloved (or the world, or God) not to become untouchable light that slips like sand. Aging sits in the room: “I’m growing old, you know.” Emotional vocal trance often soars; this lyric asks the soar to fail a little, mercifully.
The twist is ethical: it is not the weak who need a tear on a stern cheek, but “us, the strong, who cry.” Humanity is measured by the capacity for unbidden pain, for something trivial that cracks the mask. Softness becomes the gift the powerful require to remain real. I hear intimacy as resistance to marble—love asking the other to stay porous enough to be met.
