Phantom Frequency cover artwork

Lyrics

There’s a hum that follows every step,
a secret tone the world has kept.
It vibrates through the scars I hide,
a phantom frequency inside.

You said that silence makes us real,
but I can’t trust the things I feel.
Each sound a mirror, cold and bent,
reflecting what the pain has meant.

I tune myself to what remains,
the hiss between the loves and chains.
And if this signal fades from me,
then let it end in harmony.

The idea
#

A hum that follows every step—secret tone, vibration through hidden scars, phantom frequency inside. Silence was supposed to make us real; feeling cannot be trusted; each sound a cold bent mirror of what pain has meant. The speaker tunes to what remains, the hiss between loves and chains, and accepts that if the signal fades, it may end in harmony.

Aggressive metal can make inner noise literal. Here the metaphor is technical and intimate at once: the self as receiver stuck on a station that might be memory, trauma, or simply the nervous system’s private radio.

I hear someone negotiating with an invisible soundtrack they did not choose—and finding, in the possibility of its end, not only fear but a strange peace.
