Lyrics
I thought I held the light,
But it was only smoke and flame,
Your words, they burned so bright,
And left me standing in the rain.
I reach for something real,
But it slips like sand away,
This emptiness I feel,
Is louder than what you say.
And I’m breaking,
Pieces falling on the floor,
My heart’s aching,
I can’t find what I’m searching for.
I’m not blind, I’m not strong,
I just can’t carry on,
What was whole is now gone,
I’m living in a shattered glow.
The idea#
Light mistaken for smoke and flame; words that burned bright and left the speaker in rain. Alt-rock chill frames a softer collapse—reaching for something real that slips like sand, emptiness louder than speech.
Breaking, pieces on the floor, living in a shattered glow: not blind, not strong, simply unable to carry on with what was whole. I take the title at its word—radiance after fracture, beauty that admits the break.
The song doesn’t strut through pain. It sits in the residual light and names the ache.
