Steel Keeps the Peace
Swords burn in ancient flame

Peace is held — by sharpened fear
We stand like stone — we never break

They wait in dark, they watch, they keep
This fragile peace the world adores
Is built on us — prepared for wars
The idea#
Swords in ancient light; shields that will not yield; iron singing in grey morning—death practiced so that peace might live. Helmets gleam; spears wait; axes never sleep too deep. No war wanted, no heart of glass—but if it must, then hatred comes. Blades calm, awake, always there: the peace the world adores is honored with steel.
Aggressive metal suits this paradox cleanly. Peace as fragile good kept by those prepared for war is an old argument; the lyric states it without blush. “We stand like stone” is both promise and warning.
I hear the ethic of the guardian who accepts a dirty hands theology: better readiness than beautiful helplessness. Whether that is wisdom or self-justifying force is left for the listener’s politics to decide.
